Kingdom Prayer Initiatives

I’ve been journaling much of my adult life, in fact I have a box full of moleskine journals that I love to leaf through, choosing to record only the God moments. The last several years I’ve kept current on my computer which is more convenient, but not nearly so tactile.

I love reading back from time to time, especially at the close of the year. Hints and themes of days ahead are often hidden in the entries without me even realizing. Hindsight is 20/20 right?

This year, I lifted from the pages hopes of international travel, increasing ministry effectiveness and new opportunities for family and ministry and, now rereading, I’m amazed at what transpired.

In the last year, I was privileged to reconnect with Romania after a 26-year gap. The sights and scenes of past persecuted days informed a new day where God is moving in new ways. The rekindled relationships and a host of new ones seem to point to more involvement in the future.

Visiting Thailand wasn’t on the radar except that it became the location to meet with some high impact leaders serving the underground church in persecuted lands. Again, an eye-opening trip, one certain to have continued contact in the days ahead.

A once-in-a-lifetime trip to Austria to introduce the older children to the places where Jen and I first met and ministered together also happened this year, marking one of the best family experiences we’ve had to date.

At Northstar Church we’ve seen a culture of prayer strengthened, with hundreds of people engaging in prayer. Over 1000 people have attended our Prophetic Prayer & Communion events this year. These “lingering” prayer gatherings are growing and attracting many across the city. It’s been amazing and something that could easily branch out.

We will have had over 70 people graduate from our School of Kingdom Ministry by the end of this academic year, touching different churches in our region. Another growth line I didn’t fully see coming.

In January, I began to seriously consider creating a non-profit to further facilitate some of the ministry growth. Now, here at the end of the year, it’s finally becoming a reality. We’re poised to launch Kingdom Prayer Initiatives at the beginning of 2018.

Going forward, this will be the ministry and financial platform for the assignments God is setting before us. It doesn’t affect our current ministry directives at all. I’m still fully engaged at Northstar and around the city serving as a pastor, elder and leader in the movement of prayer. It just means that now our financial partnership will move through Kingdom Prayer Initiatives (KPI), giving us a broadening scope of ministry in the city and across the world.

·       Our new website hosts an ONLINE giving option that is super easy to use. Look for the Give button at the top of the screen. We’ve heard from many of you that this is a preferred way of partnering, so let us know what you think.

I found a journal entry on January 4th 2017 saying, “This year I think we’re to start a non-profit to facilitate the ministry growing around us; it’s scary and exciting, too.”

I didn’t believe it would happen actually, but here we are up and functioning at year-end. Amazing!

Beginning in January, we will want to merge all our financial partners to this new platform, which I’m assured will be easier for all. Northstar will honor any gifts that may be sent their way until the transition is complete.

Happy New Year everyone!
